Mr. Thomas W. Poore, M.Ed. - President

The John Paul II High School community has been led by Mr. Thomas W. Poore, President, since 2003. Mr. Poore graduated from St. Edwards University in Austin in 1973, received a Master’s in Education from Stephen F. Austin University in 1977, and spent many years serving the Texas public school system, from which he retired in 2003. From his career in public schools, Mr. Poore brings to John Paul II High School broad experience, ranging from classroom teacher to principal to Interim Superintendent.

Dedicated to young people, Mr. Poore sets a tone driven by ‘in the interest of children.’ He believes in fostering strong rapport with students, parents, and faculty and can often be found in the hallways, classrooms, and dining hall, visiting with the exceptional young people who make up the JPIIHS student body. Deliberate decisions, which place the interests of the students above all others, guide the school community. Mr. Poore believes in setting an example of combined compassion and leadership; this in turn is reflected by what our students are equipped to do upon graduation: make a difference in the world by walking in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II.
