  • Academic: Study skills, time management, organization, college, career, and 4-year planning.
  • Mental: Anxiety, stress, relationships, addictions, TCHATT, and ‘The Shade.’
  • Physical: Sleep patterns, eating habits, mindfulness, and healthy habits.

The John Paul II High School Comprehensive School Counseling Program

John Paul II High School counselors:

  • Provide students with a responsive school counseling program that promotes academic, career and social/emotional development and equitable opportunity and achievement outcomes for all students.
  • Collaborate with administration, teachers, staff and stakeholders for equitable school improvement goals.
  • Use data-collection tools adhering to standards of confidentiality.
  • Review and use school and student data to assess and address needs, including but not limited to data on strengths and disparities that may exist related to gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability and/or other relevant classifications.
  • Deliver research-based interventions to help close achievement, attainment, information, attendance, discipline, resource and opportunity gaps.
  • Collect and analyze outcome data to determine the progress and effectiveness of the school counseling program.
  • Share data outcomes with stakeholders.

JPII Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of the John Paul II Counseling Office is to provide a proactive, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate program to address students’ academic and career goals in addition to supporting their personal, spiritual and social needs. This is accomplished through a partnership with parents/guardians, staff, and community members to enable all students to become successful, productive citizens and lifelong learners in a diverse and changing world.

The John Paul II High School Counseling Office is guided by our commitment to provide a safe, nurturing environment where the entire learning community addresses the unique needs of students to ensure students reach their fullest potential and successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, competent and productive citizens who respect themselves and others. Collaborating with students, parents, faculty and staff, we will foster the development of the entire person – mental, spiritual, academic and social. School counselors believe that every student can succeed through the collaborative efforts of school, home, and community leading to responsible and productive citizenship in the 21st century.
